Affect Children:

Affect Children CHILD WELFARE, is broad terms, is society's concern for the general well-being of children and is the sum of its efforts on their behalf. In this broad sense, however, the term is too general to be useful because most worthwhile activities and social provisions affect children's welfare either directly or indirectly. The environmental engineer, for example, who is working on control of air pollution in the cities is engaged in an activity directly affecting the well-being of children. So also is the policeman guarding the streets, or the legislator supporting a measure to raise the minimum wage for unskilled workers.

The counseling service of the Child Study Association of America aims to accomplish in the realm of mental health what the well-baby clinics do with respect to physical health. By means of this service, parents who have a good basic relationship with their children but are troubled about some phase of their children's development, or about marital problems that might adversely affect the child, have an opportunity to talk with someone who is understanding.

Additional hormones secreted by the cow also affect her ability to produce milk. At least one hormone brings about the development of the ducts in the udder, while others affect the growth of the alveoli and the milk-secreting cells. Hormones also are at least partially responsible for the fact that a cow produces the most milk per day during the second month after she calves.
