American Home Wci: WCI Designs First Green New American home WCI Home
WCI Communities, Inc. has designed the first green certified New American home WCI Home, which previewed at the 2006 International Builders' Show in Orlando.
WCI's design of this year's New American home WCI Home received green certification from the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) for its sustainable design.
It is also the first time a builder's in-house architectural team was selected to design the New American home WCI Home.
"We are honored to have been selected to participate in this project," said WCI President and CEO Jerry Starkey.
David Sarnoff was another pioneer who foresaw broadcasting to the home. In 1916, while with the American home WCI Marconi Company, he recommended starting a business based on a "radio music box" for the home but was ignored. At that time industrial leaders in radio were more interested in establishing American home WCI dominance over world communications. To this end Owen D. Young, general counsel of the General Electric Company (GE), brought the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) into being in 1919. That same year Young achieved quiet agreement between GE, RCA, and the American home WCI Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) for the sharing of all of their radio patents.
Sponsored by the Pasadena chapter of the American home WCI Society of Interior Designers, the tour will take you inside five homes, all within a 9-mile radius, where kitchens are at the heart of the home.
Other parts of the houses - living rooms, entryways, family rooms and home offices - will be open for viewing as well, but the kitchens are definitely the stars of this tour.
