Her Family Will Move: In the treatment of emotionally disturbed children the whole family is involved. Ideally they should move forward together toward a better adjustment. The case of the Smith family illustrates this family-centered approach :
The father wanted his seven-year-old boy to compare favorably with other children—to be a credit to him. He was much more concerned about the child's achievement than about the child as a person. Despite evidence to the contrary, the father believed that the child was of normal intelligence and that his abilities had not been developed. It was clear that the father had a strong need to have a child of whom he could be proud. He could not accept the fact that his child was below average.
Pays isn't sure where her family will move next. But she's confident she and Bernsen will know the place when they see it.
"We're always open. We've found that houses just come to us. It's like, OK, this is the next one. Ready, everybody?"
A move is recorded by identifying the piece moved, following it with a hyphen, and then naming the square on which it has been placed. Thus, a first White move of a pawn to the fourth rank before the queen is 1 P-Q4; Black's reply of knight to the third rank before his king bishop is 1. . . N-KB3. Castling kingside is written O-O, and castling queenside, O-O-O. Captures require an "x" and the chessman taken; for example, RxKN (or RxN if only one knight can be taken). En passant is written PxP e.p. Check is an abbreviated "ch" after the move. An exclamation mark (!) signifies a brilliant move; one question mark (?), a poor move; and two question marks (??), a losing move.
