His Father Was Assassinated: Gustav IV Adolf in 1792, at the age of 13, when his father was assassinated. His uncle, Duke Karl, ruled as regent until 1796.
In the early years of his reign after 1796, Gustav carried out a number of useful economic, monetary, and administrative reforms.
