Home Department: The public relations department of that same department store may contact the same commercial photographer, but this time the request will be different. The photographer will be requested to photograph a "day in the life of a great department store" or something similar. The photographer will record people shopping, sales clerks waiting on customers, home Department sewers in the sewing class sponsored by the store, children watching a puppet show, civic leaders meeting for lunch in the store's coffee shop, and maybe kindly old Mr. Peabody, buyer for the shoe department, who volunteers his free time helping at a home Department for the handicapped. The pictures are assembled into a booklet that will go to schools, the news media, and others. The pictures are meant to tell a story that, indirectly, will bring new business. There is -o hard sell and the store's products are shown incidentally, if at all.
