House Corner: On paper, place the point of the compass on the house corner and, pointing roughly in the direction of the boundary corner, draw a broad arc. Repeat the process, this time using the measurement between the second house corner and the same boundary corner. Where the two arcs meet is the apex of your boundary.
The teacher then helped each individual and each group to get started. In one corner of the room two boys were building a dock for the boats several others were painting. Two were painting scenery for the play which they were going to give for the kindergarten. Others were playing house in the doll corner, and still others were experimenting with a magnet in the science corner. The teacher walked among the children, guiding their learning.
Most of the Corner Houses have four restaurant floors and perhaps a Basement restaurant as well. Orchestras play here and there all over the vast buildings, "nippies" dash about hotfoot with trays of food and beer, crowds mill, and for half a dollar you can sustain life. These places are a London experience. A conspicuous Corner House is on Coventry Street, another on Oxford Street. If you want to make the Corner House food taste wonderful you'll only have to compare it with some of London's innumerable tea shops—there are several large chains of them—or the stand-up snack bars. I don't think the taking of nourishment can become much less interesting anywhere on earth than in these places.
