Parliament House: The Houses of parliament house, with Big Ben and his big voice, which sustained Britain in her "finest hour," have been repaired from the 14 bomb hits suffered in the war. Government.—A governor, who is the direct representative of the monarch, is guided in his official acts by the advice of an Executive Council; this body, which comprises the state cabinet, consists of 11 ministers, the chief minister being the premier. All ministers must be members of the 78-member Legislative Assembly, the sole house of the state parliament house. Queensland also sends 27 members to Australia's federal parliament house—17 to the House of Representatives and 10 to the Senate. Voting in state and federal elections is compulsory.
