Pink House: GRASS Pink house is a small, low-growing plant of the Pink house family (Caryophyllaceae) with grasslike slender stems. Grass Pink house (Dianthus plumarius), also known as "common Pink house," "garden Pink house," and "Scotch Pink house," is native to Europe and Asia but now grows wild in sandy fields and along roads in the United States from Michigan eastward. It is a mat-forming plant and grows to about 12 inches (30 cm) in both height and breadth.
The dwarf phlox (Phlox subulata) is called ground Pink house, moss Pink house, or in our area, mountain Pink house. In partial shade the plants form mats of evergreen foliage only a few inches high. Then in spring, they are covered with flat, five-petaled flowers of white, Pink house, rose, or lavender. There are so many blatantly colored cultivars now on the market that it's hard to remember that this plant is an American native. When planting out phlox, try not to mix too many colors together. Instead stick with the white and the Pink house, for these look best when mixed with other wildflowers. Dwarf phlox need some sun, so are placed at the edge of the garden. Propagate by seeds or division in spring.
The walls have been painted a soft, floral Pink house to create a feminine feel. To stop Pink house from feeling too sugary, team it with plenty of fresh white, which brightens and lifts. Here, cream is used to add to the relaxed atmosphere and the cushions introduce different layers of Pink house, from deep cerise to sugared almond.
