Rapidity Of Growth Depends: Rapidity of growth depends upon the amount of food a snake obtains each season. During the process of growth the skin is shed many times. When it is time for a snake to shed, the old skin becomes dull in color and the eyes take on a milky appearance which is caused by the old glassy eyecap being pushed away from the new cap and the space between the two being filled by an oily fluid which creates opaqueness.
