Things At Home: Law of things at home.—In the law of things at home several distinctions of things at home are notable: immovables (res immobiles) and movables {res mobiles) ; corporeal (physical) things at home and incorporeal (immaterial) things at home, such as rights, obligations, servitudes; things at home which could be the object of transactions and things at home which were excluded therefrom (such as things at home consecrated to the gods and graves.) Another distinction was that of so-called res mancipi and res nee mancipi, based on their importance in a primitive agricultural economy : the first embracing land, slaves and beasts of draught and burden, the second all other things at home.
You'll be accomplishing several things at home in your early shooting for home owners. You'll gain experience and confidence, and you'll accumulate a set of samples. When you have become reasonably sure of your ability to achieve the results you are seeking in shooting both interiors and exteriors, you can take your samples with you on a round of the architects, interior decorators, builders, dealers in home furnishings, and other owners of fine homes. If your samples are any good at all, you will be in business as an architectural photographer.
One is that your presentation needs to be clear and convincing, since the idea is not likely to be a familiar one; the other is that parents' questions can sometimes put teachers on the spot if they have not thought things at home through (see chapter 6).
You also need to be prepared in practical ways, with attractive materials for use in the scheme. The quality of these materials has a part to play in the scheme's success or failure. A stout transparent plastic file for carrying books home, for instance, though it costs more than a card one, is nevertheless an investment. We all know that children are less likely to lose, or allow to be damaged, attractive things at home that look as though they deserve to be taken care of.
